Land Acknowledgment: We remember the ground beneath us and the histories we inherit. This land is God’s gift shaped by Indigenous stewardship and the displacement of Black communities in Southwest D.C., truths that still shape us today. As people of faith, we lament this history, name them honestly, seek healing with our relatives and trust the Creator who is making all things new.

Welcome to St. Matthew!

Southwest D.C.

We are so glad you are here!

St. Matthew Lutheran Church seeks to be an inclusive Christian community in Southwest D.C. rooted in the belief that God's love and grace are expansive and liberating. We are free to be!

**No membership required to attend.**

We affirm that:

Queer and trans people are beloved children of God, called to fully participate and lead in the life of the church.

Black, Brown, and Indigenous (BIPOC) communities matter, and we seek, the church seek to continue the work of racial healing and reconciliation.

Immigrants reflect the image of God, and the church must stand in solidarity with families harmed by unjust systems, policies, and practices that separate communities and deny dignity.

Because of our faith, we practice radical hospitality, courageous truth-telling, and community care. Jesus is our hope!
